Notes on Transformations

A geometric transformation is simply a change in position or size. The four basic types of transformations are:

  1. Translation: slide/move a figure in any direction (up, down, left, right, or a combination)
  2. Rotation: turn/spin a figure about a given point
  3. Reflection: flip a figure over a given line to create a mirror image
  4. Dilation: enlarge or reduce a figure
