So it's a little late, but here's our weekly update for math class!  Before getting into class happenings, I'd like to give the reminder that I'm still currently tapped for jury duty on Monday (3/30) and Tuesday (3/31).  As long as this doesn't change, there will be a substitute in class and I'd like to remind the kids to be on their best behavior.

I'll start with my apologies for sending this out much later than my usual Friday/Saturday postings.  With the snow days and feeling sick over that extra time off (those snow days really came in handy for that reason at least), I'm just now able to get back into the swing of things.

Homework: Mar. 24-28 (+Reminders!)

Students are reminded to turn in late/incomplete assignments as well as signed grade reports if they haven't already.  All term 3 assignments are due by Friday, March 28.  Any grades taken after this week will be counted towards the next term in order to give students a chance to make the work up or due corrections if necessary.  Students should work on the functions packet, which is due this Friday, March 28.

We'll be in the computer lab for math gaming review on Monday, March 31, so students should bring their headphones/earbuds for that day.  A test on transformations and functions is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 and we also have to take the county's post-assessment this term, which is scheduled for April 3.  I'd prefer not to have back-to-back testing, but it sadly couldn't be helped.  Again, grades from the week of March 31st will go onto the last term.

Reminder:  I'm still not able to schedule a "regular" tutoring time (auntie driving duties have pilled up), but students can make arrangements with me to set up a time to come in early or stay a little after if the need extra help.

Homework: Mar. 10-14

This week students will be finishing a test on Monday and will be in the computer lab on Tuesday, so they will not receive their new math packets until Wednesday, which will not be due until next week (Wed. 3/19).  They should bring their headphones/earbuds for the lab day.  Students will be given a grade report to take home and get signed by a parent/guardian, returning the next day.

I'll be staying after again this Wednesday, February 5 to provide extra help and let students work on making up missing assignments.  If there are any students who would like to participate, you need to make arrangements with me ahead of time.  Students should see me in class before Wednesday to make their request and then ask their parents/guardians to write a note or email giving them permission to stay after.  I need to have a list of students ahead of time to ensure that the number staying after doesn't get to out of hand and to make sure I have copies of the assignments for students needing to complete work.  Students will need to be picked up no later than 4:15 PM or they will not be allowed to stay after again in the future.  Students do not have to stay the entire time if it doesn't work for family schedules, but I wanted to make the extra time available for those who need or want it.

While this is a return to the "regular" help sessions, students needing to work on finalizing their PBL projects are welcome to attend as well so long as they have written permission from a parent, be it paper/pencil or electronic.  Students are also welcome to come in early to school to work on the project.  I can guarantee that I'll be at school by 8 AM every morning but try to get here earlier when possible.  If students check with me ahead of time, I can try to guarantee the earlier times when possible.  I do occasionally have early morning meetings, so I prefer that students check with me first for this reason.  On those days, they might still be able to use the table I've set up outside the classroom to work while they wait for my meeting to finish.

After School PBL Time

This week instead of having a "regular" tutoring help session, I will be staying after school this Wednesday, January 15th until 4PM to allow students extra time to work in their groups on their Chesapeake Bay Math/Science PBL projects together.  As with the tutoring sessions, students need to get a note or have parents email their permission to stay.  They should also talk with the rest of their group about their plans ahead of time.
