We've made it!  The school year is finally over!  I won't bog things down with an overly long WCS since I know the kids are eager to start their summer break and be rid of all reminders of school until September (I know I am!).  In class, I taught the kids how to make two different origami pieces, linking it to our various geometry units.  While the kids worked on that (and to keep them occupied while I worked with small groups and individuals who struggled just a bit more with the intricacies), I had a few videos playing in the background throughout the week.

We're entering the final stretch, but things are still super busy!  While the students finished their SOLs on Tuesday (scores can be seen now on ParventVUE in the notes section with some scores added as a grade if it wouldn't negatively effect a students score), a few students who did not pass got immediately to work on preparing to retake the test next week.

We've wrapped up our review this week and today marked the start of the 7th grade math SOLs!  While the tests are obviously important to the school, students' scores can be used to help their grades (they cannot be used if the score will adversely effect the grade), so for students who are straddling the line between one grade and a higher grade, this can be used to help push their grades in the right direction.

This will be a quick WCS since I have my niece's dance recital this evening while the other one is standing here all impatient and ready to leave for the day.  The MSM2 classes started and completed their data analysis unit, with major emphasis on the histogram.  We added quite a bit of extra detail to the notes for this section, since there are a ton of little things that can make assessment questions difficult.

It's been a crazy month for us here in Central VA! There was no WCS posting last week (only a quick email and Edmodo messages to the kids) since school was closed to students the entire week and teachers only went in that Friday for a work day. This week, we at least got three days of school in before more snow put us out again Thursday and Friday, so we all tried to pack as much learning into that time as possible.
