We're entering the final stretch, but things are still super busy! While the students finished their SOLs on Tuesday (scores can be seen now on ParventVUE in the notes section with some scores added as a grade if it wouldn't negatively effect a students score), a few students who did not pass got immediately to work on preparing to retake the test next week. If scores were between a 375 and a 399 (passing is 400) can retake the test on Monday, June 8th. I've set these kids up with some additional materials and worked with them in small groups when possible over the last few days of this week. I've been so proud of how seriously most of these kids have taken it, coming up with study plans and working together to review, as well as a few of my other students who came to me asking if they could help by tutoring some of their friends and classmates. It was an awesome thing to witness this week!
The rest of the students had some work of their own; all students spent any independent time on their math sites and games while their instructional time was spent with the MSM2 students working on a data analysis packet (Block 1/2 students will wrap this up next week) and the 7H students doing a bit more work on slope and intercepts, taking things a little bit further from where we left of with our functions unit covered right before we started our SOL review. We'll wrap this up at the beginning of next week and then spend the rest of the week on the "fun stuff" (some lessons to accompany videos, geometry review through the art of origami, and hopefully even a few games to round out the week!), but then that's it! Just one more week to go! Be on the lookout for summer review materials to be added to the school website (I took over running the site recently, so I can confidently say it will definitely be added)... don't let "the summer slide" effect you!
