Upcoming Assessments: Properties of Real Numbers Quiz (Wed. 10/12); WWU Quiz 3 (Fri. 10/21)
After reviewing and quizzing for our Order of Operations unit, which involved studying and picking out common student errors, we started our unit on the Properties of Real Numbers. Students had a preview of this last year in fifth grade when they studied the Associative Property and the Commutative Property. We continued by adding on the Identity Property, the Inverse Property, the Property of Zero, and the Distributive Property. We were all highly entertained by several student- and teacher-made videos from YouTube that explained the properties, but the following was by far our favorite (the students enjoyed the soccer and the beat while I appreciated their representation of the math).

Students also received their login information for three other game sites (Lure of the Labyrinth, MangaHigh, and SumDog) to add to their Web Resources section of the Math Dictionary. These sites, along with DimensionU, are great resources that allow them to practice and review their math work in a fun, entertaining way.
