Weekly Class Summary: Mar. 18-22

SOLs Covered:  7.12 & 8.14 Relations & Functions
Math Dictionary Sections:  (43) Relations & Functions
Upcoming Assessments:  Test 3.3 on SA/Vol, DA, & RF (Wed. 3/27)

Due to many factors (field trips, meetings and covering other classes, and even a spring snow storm of all things!), this will most definitely be the shortest weekly class summary to date.  Last week saw us working on the foundation of relations and functions, with a huge emphasis on vocabulary on top of working on evaluating functions.  We went over what makes a function special and different from other relations (for every domain, there can be only one range) and how to determine if a relation is a function using lists, tables, and graphs.  From that point, we went over how to find the range for a given domain set.  We'll be continuing our work with relations and functions throughout this upcoming school week (March 26-29) on top of extending the unit with more graphing into the week we return from spring break.

Thursday and Friday I had the privilege of joining Mrs. Harville's science classes on their field trip to the Virginia Living Museum down in Newport News.  Being the nerdy person that I am, I greatly enjoyed the many animal exhibits as well as the class on the Chesapeake Bay.  I highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in the wildlife that Virginia has to offer.  Thank you to Mrs. Waguespack for working with most of my students on the day(s) they were not on the trip themselves as well as Mr. Blevins and Mrs. Powell for collecting any papers students had to turn into me while I was away.  Thank you also to all the parents who helped Mrs. Harville out by chaperoning the trip.

Turtles and alligators are just a few of the animals living at the VLM.
