Entertaining Math!!!

Entertaining Math!!!

Below you will find several shows (and links to their websites) that I highly recommend. You can see just a few ways math can be applied to real (or semi-real) situations.

CYBERCHASE
This is a PBS cartoon show that airs Monday through Friday afternoons at 4:30PM. The Cybersquad Kids stop the villians (Hacker and his henchbots) from taking over cyberspace. They do all of this simply by using their most powerful tool: brain power!

NUMB3RS
NUMB3RS is a CBS drama "drama about an FBI agent who recruits his mathematical-genius brother to help the Bureau solve a wide range of challenging crimes in Los Angeles." Because of the shows content, I recommend parents/guardians watch the show for themselves and/or visit the following websites to determine if the show is okay for their children. I also encourage parents/guardians to watch the show with their children.

Deal or No Deal

Probability at its best! Yes, the key to winning this popular NBC game show is lots of luck. However, there are many examples of probability shown and discussed throughout the show ("your odds are..." or "you have a ___% chance of picking...."). When we cover probability in the spring, we will use this show as one of our examples.
