Book Recommendations

Actress and mathematician Danica McKellar has written two math books just for middle school girls. Both books, Math Doesn't Suck: How to Survive Middle-School Math without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail and the follow-up Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who’s Boss, have held steady spots on the New York Times best-sellers list. The books both approach math in a way that makes it relatable to any girl's life. They read more like a teen magazine than a textbook, so girls can have fun reading it as they learn the math. McKellar has created websites to accompany both books with solution guides and forums to continue the learning. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to take a new, fun approach to mathematics.
